About
Prior to becoming a helper I have always been passionate about helping individuals who've had similar lived experiences to my own. Growing up, I've found that the most transformative relationships in my life have always been the therapists or teachers I've encountered that have helped me the most. I am passionate about serving survivors who currently identify within the LGBTQIA community, trauma, loss, attachment, anxiety and relationships (specifically romantically and/or with familiar trafficking situations)
I have approximately 10 years of experience in working with survivors of sexual trauma and a lifetime of lived experience as a survivor of familiar trafficking. It is an honor to walk alongside you as we embark on your journey of healing together.
How does your practice affirm BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals?
As a Queer, African-American woman I know the difficulties it can be to find a clinician that aligns with your intersectional identities. I show up in the therapeutic space with the mindset that you are worth more than the trauma that you have experienced and my goal is to walk with you as you discover the joy, the growth and the resilience that you have within your own individual life.
I approach each client by meeting them where they are at, regardless of how tough that may be. I understand that talk therapy can be extremely hard, and so within our work together sessions are creative and outside the box. My approach is rooted in the belief that the relationships and connections we create as children impact the way we navigate the world as adults. Sometimes these relationships and connections are so negatively ruptured that it's difficult to navigate through adult world and has led many of us through survivorship of the commercial sex industry.
As your therapist I would aim to teach you how to heal, understand and support current you and, navigate through the negative ruptures from the past and learn how to create positive change for your future.
