How does your practice affirm BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals?

Our office is in a space where a wide variety of people live and move through. Our office has a wheelchair and all genders restroom.

BIPOC Affirming

Being a member of a community that is racialized and politicized can be exhausting and stressful. This can show up as stomach or back pains, headaches, isolation, crying, anger, so many ways. People of Color have been misused, abused, and marginalized by most sectors in the US including the medical sector. Ideally, this would be acknowledged fully and truth and reconciliation would be open and transparent. Unfortunately, we are not there.

What we thrive and work every day to provide a space for our clients who are people of color to express their full selves. This includes processing of all types of oppression (overt, covert racism, microaggressions, etc.) how the oppression looks can depend on a multitude of identities. Only if that is the topic that you would like to explore.

LGBTQ+ Affirming
Is being a member of the LGBTQ+ community important to you and your identity? Then it is to us too. Figuring out if and how to come out to yourself and others? We have and will continue to hold space for those discovering themselves and possible communities.

Let's say you are well-established in the LGBTQ+ community, it does not mean you do not have concerns and history that is influenced by your LGBTQ+ identity. This can include but not be limited to family dynamics, marginalization within your communities (BIPOC and/or Bi/Pan/Asexual/ Poly in LGBTQ+ spaces, places of worship, work), feelings of self-worth, memories of marginalization, difficult relationships, and break-ups. We are affirming of all genders and sexualities including not limited to those who hold non-monogamous or kink identities.
