About
My clients are primarily trans, non-binary, and queer people who have experienced trauma, survived gender-based harm, or not felt accepted in a vital relationship, often with a caregiver or partner. I began supporting survivors of gender-based violence in 2003. Since then, I have been passionate about serving survivors of trafficking, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, harassment, and stalking.
In 2013, I began centering my practice and work primarily around the lived experience of trans and queer people, especially those who have experienced sexual harm or abuse inflicted by loved ones. Today I am focused on being the best trauma therapist I can be for LGBTQIA+ people of all racial and ethnic identities, religious and spiritual beliefs, body sizes, abilities, and neurotypes.
How does your practice affirm BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals?
I value working with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals and work toward the liberation and centering of those who have been marginalized. Understanding intersectionality and the role that oppressive systems have played in shaping one's life are cornerstones of how I approach our work together. I utilize an anti-oppressive and relational approach to understand your unique experience in the world, in relationships, and in the therapy room itself.
As a white, cis-het woman, my personal journey to embody an anti-racist and queer affirming therapeutic approach is essential and ongoing. This personal practice includes reflection into my historic and daily privilege, learning about the systems in which I am unconsciously complicit, as well as a process of divesting from those systems. This practice occurs individually, in intentional and structured community with those who share my identities and those who do not, as well as through paid consultation and training with queer and bipoc clinicians.
I am committed to ensuring that the way I show up in the therapy room is intentional, anti-racist, and queer affirming.
