You Are More Than is awarded $100k Grant for Racial and Health Equity Nationally
For the previous three years, Echoing Green has invested follow-on funding in Fellow-led organizations that are increasing racial and ethnic equity in their communities.
In funding and beyond, data shows that leaders of color have significantly less access to capital than their white peers, especially when it comes to scaling. Due to risk-averse funding models, social entrepreneurs often cannot access the capital necessary to grow their innovative models of change.
As a Black-led, survivor-led, and queer-led organization, the core of You Are More Than Inc’s work centers around challenging racial and LGBTQ+ justice norms throughout the anti-trafficking movement since the movement itself is led by predominantly white, cis-gender, heterosexual individuals and marginalized survivors often face various forms of discrimination from the very services meant to support them.
Funding from this grant will allow YAMT to expand our team, measure our national service impact, and engage members of our community in participatory action research and empowerment evaluations when accessing culturally specific aftercare.
