You Are More Than Inc.

A little about me:

I am a survivor leader out of Hawai'i and a mom to four children. I have overcome substance abuse, self-hate, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and am currently getting her Master's in Criminal Justice Systems. Not surprisingly in my spare time, you can find me reading true crime books, listening to true crime podcasts, and even watching true crime YouTube videos (I see you murder, mystery, and makeup).

My passions today surround using the voice that I never felt I had. I am honored to get the chance to help others realize their strengths, honor their struggles, and lead a life that they love.

What peer mentor relationships do you thrive in?

I love supporting fellow survivors to realize their dreams and brainstorming creative solutions to achieving them. I have also had long-term sobriety and come at recovery with a trauma-informed lens, compassion, and understanding. I also navigate being a mom amidst all of this and maintaining a sense of self among the chaos of multiple children.

What made you become a peer mentor?

I want to give back to others what was so freely given to me. I did not always love myself, I couldn't look at myself in the mirror, couldn't look anyone in the eye, or stand up tall, or even stand being in my own skin. It was some truly beautiful people that I met when I first started on this journey who loved me until I could love myself, and who showed me how deserving I am of a leading this life that I love.

How do you take care of yourself when helping others?

I live for coffee, especially with white chocolate and peppermint! I also love to read books, browse thrift stores, win at every board game against my children, and swim in the ocean.
